The draft core strategy document has many instances where policies have been written referring to SPDs, LDDs and other further information yet to be prepared/completed. This has made the interpretation and implications of policies difficult. The right is therefore reserved to make further comments.

Development should consider impact on strategic road network - M5 Jcns 19, 20, 21. Promote closer integration of transport and land use planning. Peak time congestion, Jcns 15-21, a particular concern. South bound off slip improvements at Jcn 21 needed to mitigate against future trips generated by new housing in Weston-super-Mare. Improvements need to be supported by high quality public transport schemes put forward in RSS and identified as high priority in Regional Funding Allocation.

A good core strategy needs to tell the story of the place, explain how it works and highlight its qualities and distinguishing features. Telling the story helps everyone understand how the qualities of the place have shaped the strategy and its priorities for future quality.

You need to confront the Government about the 17,500 new homes you and they state are necessary to be built in North Somerset. By attempting to meet this target you destroy the notion of "Protecting the Green Belt and character of our villages" with the plans presented.

There is a need for all Core Strategies to be prepared against those tests of soundness as set out in PPS12. In order for a Core Strategy to be 'sound', it shoud be justified, effective and consistent with National Policy.
