This consultation was part of a Library Service Review which ran from 16 January to 9 March 2012. It asked what members of the public thought about the proposed new opening hours for their library, planned for introduction from 1 September 2012.
Backwell and Banwell libraries were not included in this review of opening hours as they were reviewed separately in 2009/2010 and the changes resulting from that review are still being implemented. The mobile library service was not included in this review, as there were no proposed changes to the service.

| Context for this consultation | North Somerset Council has to make savings of £47.3million over the next three years, meaning that for every £3 we spend now we will only have £2 by 2015. As part of the budget reduction proposals, our library service has to save £347,000 over the next three years. To do this, the service has carried out a review. The review has highlighted our intention to continue to provide library services in communities that already receive them, to invest in services where we can and not to close libraries. The review led to some proposed new opening hours which would take effect from September 2012. These proposed hours are the subject of this survey. This survey forms one of the main planks of consultation with library users and the wider North Somerset public over January to March 2012. |
| How to obtain results | Results of the survey, and the library management team response to the results, will be available on this web page from 7 May 2012. |
